Police are investigating the murder of a young man whose body was found topless and stabbed along Jakes Gerwel Drive near Manenberg.
Detectives were called to the scene on Friday just before 8am after the body was discovered by a passerby, hidden under tree branches next to the Consol Glass boundary wall.
Cops suspect the man may have been attacked in Hanover Park and chased across Jakes Gerwel Drive where he collapsed and died due to his injuries.
The man was found topless and with stab wounds to his neck and is believed to be in his 20s.
Police are now trying to determine the man’s identity and whether he had been robbed.
Manenberg Station Commander, Colonel Sanele Zama, says a docket for murder has been opened for investigation.
“The unidentified body was discovered by a passerby, covered with a branch of a tree. The male victim, seemingly to be in his late 20s, was topless. He also had stab wounds to the neck.
“It is alleged that he was chased from Hanover Park across Jakes Gerwel and succumbed to his injuries as he lay injured next to Consol Glass’s boundary wall.
“It is unclear if he was a victim of robbery or a vicious attack. A case of murder has been opened for investigation, but no arrest has been made. The victim remains unknown at this stage.”
