Meanwhile, the Muslim Judicial Council has called on anyone with information to come forward.

“There is a lot of speculation and so many theories. People are saying it is satanists and it had to do with the full moon, but we do not know,” he says.

About 80 gravestones were ripped out of the ground and arranged in “demonic symbols” at the cemetery on Tuesday night.
Horrified family members of the deceased rushed the maqbara on Wednesday morning, after pictures of an upside-down cross and other cult-like symbols shaped from broken gravestones went viral on social media.
There were also rumours that bodies were removed, but this was not confirmed by police or the MJC.
Caretakers had arrived at the cemetery early on Wednesday morning to start digging graves, when they were met with the horrific sight of desecration.
The top section of the graveyard containing mostly fresh graves was targeted.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut says the investigation continues.
