Thousands of mourners have gathered in Elsies River to say goodbye to slain eight-year-old Tazne Van Wyk.
Family, friends, classmates and residents filled the VGK Goodwood church where the young girl’s funeral is being held.
Tears started flowing when a group of young girls from the Clarke Estate Junior Choir sang in honour of the girl's memory.
Among those present were Police minister Bheki Cele, Mayor Dan Plato and Health MEC Nomafrench Mbombo.
During his speech, Cele highlighted her alleged killer, Moehydien Pangaker’s, criminal record and how his own two-year-old son died at his hands.
Meanwhile, Mbombo called Pangaker a bastard and told mourners the system failed Tazne.
The little girl will be laid to rest at Modderdam Cemetery in Belhar later today.
