A Manenberg woman is at her wits’ end after buying a car from a dealership in Voortrekker Road, only to find that it isn’t registered anywhere.
Megan Jones is now fighting to get the paperwork of her 2005 VW Polo that she bought at Auto021/BNA Motors in Goodwood, but says it’s been a never-ending struggle since she got the vehicle in October.
“I traded in a Peugeot 206 and paid R80 000 for the car but the car, a black one, that we initially made the deal on was sold before I got there,” she explains.
“They said that they will get me another car from another branch, which made me very upset.
“They eventually came with the car, a white one, which I saw had a few minor bodywork problems but they said that they will fix it.”
Megan says when she took the white Polo for a test drive, she also heard a knocking sound coming from the front.
She says the dealership fixed the problems, but a few weeks later the car started leaking oil.
And when it came back from these repairs the knocking sound was back, along with grinding gears.
After multiple complaints, Megan was referred to the dealership’s manager, Shudley, who told her that the mechanics checked the car and found that nothing was wrong with it.
“After all these issues I started getting gatvol and told them that I just wanted my money back, but they said that they cannot do that.
“The latest issue now is that I still do not have the papers for the car while the engine number cannot be verified.
“I went to two different traffic departments and they told me that the vehicle cannot be found on their system because it was not registered to the company.”
When the Daily Voice contacted Shudley he refused to give his surname and said: “I told her that she must bring the car in to sort out the issue with the engine number.
“We do not know why it does not register, but she refuses to bring the car in.”
However, Megan says all she wants now is her money back.
