A dom drug dealer will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court today after being nabbed by undercover cops with nearly two kilograms of dagga.
Maitland cops say the mert had no idea he was being watched, and he gave away his own game when he could not stop looking at the cooler box.
Acting Maitland Police Station commander, Captain Louis Solomons, says the 23-year-old Tanzanian man was nabbed on Monday afternoon in an undercover sting.
“The railway police went undercover to observe the dealers who sell their stuff along the train line and at Maitland park,” he says.
“This one ou was observed making sales and they passed the information onto the uniformed members who cornered him on Voortrekker Road.”
Officers found the man in possession of five bankies of “ duur dagga” and arrested him, but Solomons says when they took him to his flat to verify his address, he started behaving suspiciously.
“He kept staring at a cooler box in the flat and one of the officers saw him,” explains Solomons.
“The officer opened the cooler box en daar kom al die dagga uit.
“They found 240 bankies that they sell for between R100 and R150.
“In the cooler box they also found a pakkie of compressed dagga that weighed 532.9 grams.
“In total he had 1194.18 grams.”
