Residents in Bonteheuwel woke up to a gruesome scene on Saturday morning when the body of an 18-year-old man was found stabbed to death in the street.
Witnesses say the man was “gutted like a fish”, his intestines were visible and he left a blood trail 100 meters long.
The body was found by residents still bleeding on the corner of Taaibos Road and Bonteheuwel Avenue in front of Boundary Primary School just after 5am.
The bloody trail starts in Taaibos Road, and the man was naked from the waist up.
It is unclear what the motive was and community members said the victim was not from the area.

Bishop Lavis police arrived shortly afterwards and cordoned off the crime scene.
Ward councillor Angus McKenzie says he now appeals on behalf of his ward for President Cyril Ramaphosa to deploy the army in the area.
“What more motivation is needed for the custodians of safety and security, the National Police Minister and the President, to realise they are failing our communities?
“Bonteheuwel is not mourning, Bonteheuwel is begging,” McKenzie said.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut, said the murder is under investigation.
“The circumstances surrounding the death of an 18-year-old man are being investigated after his body was discovered in Taaibos Road, Bonteheuwel on Saturday morning.
“The victim died at 5:15am from stab wounds. No arrests [have been made] as yet.”
