The State is opposing the release of the two men accused of murdering seven-year-old Emaan Solomons and wounding a male victim in Ocean View on Tuesday.
Eben Basson, 27, and Chivargo Frederick, 20 both of Ocean View made their first appearance at the Simonstown Magistrate's Court today.
The duo are facing charges of attempted murder and murder.
The State is set to prove the two belongs to is affiliated to the 27's gang, JFK known as Funkies and that they had been responsible for the death of Emaan and wounding a man.
The victim may not be identified.
The State has indicated that they will be opposing the men's release out on bail and has asked for their records to be presented.
The matter was postponed to March 6 for a formal bail application.
Ironically, Fredericks celebrated his birthday today.
Sources reveal Fredericks had been caught on Wednesday while members from the Anti-Gang Unit had been looped in to hunt for the gunmen and stabilise the area.
Basson was arrested later.
A war between the JFK gang and their rival is said to be over turf in the Ocean View community.
Emaan was shot in the chest and hand while playing in the front yard of her home in Libra Street.
Emaan was laid to rest on Thursday.
On Wednesday night after a vigil, angry residents burnt five homes they believed were merchants.
