Robbers have hit two Debonairs pizzerias on the Cape Flats in less than two weeks, fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount of money in both incidents.
Police say in the latest incident on Tuesday afternoon at about 4.40pm, two suspects walked into the Debonairs in Mandalay Mall near Mitchells Plain.
Cops say the men had a gun and threatened staff at gunpoint.
They robbed the store and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
No shots were fired and no one was injured during the incident.
Witnesses said heavily armed police officers arrived on the scene a short while later but it was too late.
According to sources, another fast food restaurant was hit on the same day at the same mall but this could not be confirmed by police.
Police sources reveal the robbers fled on foot and didn’t even have a getaway car.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, says cops are hunting for the robbers: “A case of business robbery has been opened for investigation after an incident that occurred on 2 April at 4.42pm at a pizza shop in Mandalay.
“According to information, two suspects, one armed, threatened the complainant and other employees with a firearm and carried out a robbery at the shop.
“The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
“No shots were fired and suspects are yet to be arrested.”
Wednesday, Debonairs did not respond to the Daily Voic e’s calls or emails.
Two weeks ago, on 19 March, robbers hit the Debonairs at Westgate Mall in Mitchells Plain.
Five robbers walked into the store and also threatened staff with a firearm.
They fled with an undisclosed amount of money and a cellphone belonging to a customer.
The men had forced the staff to open the safe but did not harm anyone.
