Singer Craig Lucas on Monday rolled up his sleeves to hand out food parcels to the needy in Nyanga.
The 27-year-old singer was part of a team that has been running a feeding scheme for over a month in partnership with human rights organisation The Justice Desk.
The organisation was responsible for bringing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, to the township last year.
Kayli Simpson of the organisation says they realised the need for food as many people were not working during the lockdown.
Adults were given food parcels while everyone received a lekker hot meal.
“What we have done is set up a temporarily feeding scheme, this is not generally our work. We saw the need and jumped in and we were joined by awesome volunteers and received funding from overseas,” says Kayli.

The organisation is not only providing hot meals and food parcels, but teaching the residents about the virus and providing them with masks.
A shy Craig said it was important for people with means to assist the less fortunate.
“At a time like this everyone is struggling, imagine the people who were already struggling before the pandemic, how are they holding up now?
“The country is massive and the government can only do so much. Us who can assist must jump in to try and fill the gap.”
The singer also revealed that he has been busy during the lockdown working on his new upcoming single which people must look out for.
“My fans must look out for the new fresh single that is coming out soon.”
