Police have confirmed that a suspect has been taken in for questioning in connection with the kidnapping of a two-month-old baby.
The woman is believed to be the bogus social worker who snatched Kwahlelo Tiwane from his mother in Parow last Thursday.
According to reports, the woman has allegedly admitted to police that she took the baby and sold him to foreign nationals.
However, police could not confirm this or divulge further information on the
matter yesterday.
The child, who has a twin brother, is still missing.
His 29-year-old mother, Asanda Tiwane from Khayelitsha, says the woman, who posed as a social worker dressed in full uniform, said her name was Monica and she was from Site B.

The mother claims “Monica” had come to the homes of various people, offering aid.
The woman had asked for Kwahlelo’s birth certificate, clinic card and made herself copies, promising the family food parcels and a R1000 cash voucher.
Asanda says last Thursday, she went with Monica to her offices in Parow with her twins to get the food and vouchers.
When they got out of the taxi, the woman held Kwahlelo and told Asanda that she needed to run an errand to the post office and took the baby with her.
Asanda said when Monica didn’t return, she called her, but got no answer.
She then received an SMS to say the woman was keeping the baby “until the family’s situation improved”.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, confirmed a suspect is being questioned but remained tight-lipped on the details.

“We are working with SAPS to provide support with the family involved in the matter. A full report will be sent once the investigation around the
matter has been concluded,” Chigome said.
