A bomb threat at the Wynberg Magistrate's Court had hundreds of people leaving the court in a panic on Monday.
Worried mense stood across the road of the court’s entrance, as the police’s bomb squad and K9 Unit arrived to search the area.
Court proceedings were delayed and court came to a standstill as everyone, including prisoners and staff, were rushed outside.
One woman, attending court for maintenance, said all she heard was people shouting and she just got out as quickly as she could.
Faranaaz Davids, 42, from Athlone said she had been waiting three months for a court date and now the matter has been delayed again due to the bomb threat.
“I am here for my kids, man, and this court is now soema closed. Wat is die van ’n bomb? I don’t know how long I will have to wait now for a date again.”
Police had searched the building, but nothing was found. Court proceedings resumed before midday.
