A third taxi driver has been wiped out in less than a week.
Taxi driver Ferdie Pipers, 41, was shot and killed along Ashford and Galway Streets in Connaught Estate, Ravensmead, on Wednesday at about 11am.
It is believed seven shots were fired and Ferdie was struck in the head.
Shocked family members rushed to the scene and would not comment on the incident.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, confirmed that cops have yet to make an arrest.
It is also unclear at this stage what the motive behind the shootings is.
“Please be advised that a case of murder has been opened for investigation by the Ravensmead police subsequent to a shooting incident that occurred at 11am on 29 May on the corner of Ashford and Galway Streets, Connaught Estate, Ravensmead,” Rwexana said.
She says on arrival, cops found a 41-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head.
“The victim died on the scene due to his injuries. Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation.”
On Monday, cops were called to the Total garage in Stratford Avenue, Kleinvlei, where the body of Rudolph Booysen, 53, was found inside his vehicle.
It is believed Rudolph was shot and killed by three gunmen.
Last week, a taxi driver, only identified as Monray, was shot and killed along Calbral Street in Eerste River.
Monray had apparently worked for a cooldrink company in Beaufort West a few months ago before moving to Cape Town.
