A Manenberg family is appealing to the public to help find
their mentally ill sister, who vanished on 24 January.
Lavern Beukes, 24, was last seen leaving her home at about 8pm and has never returned.
She was last seen wearing brown jeans,
a blue shirt and blue slippers.
She has long brown braids, brown eyes, is approximately 1.5 metres tall and has a skinny build.
Her worried brother, Randell Beukes, says: “Lavern suffers from bipolar and schizophrenia. She has never done this before, just leaving.
“Everyone (in the family) is extremely worried about her and have been searching everywhere for her.
“A few people told me they saw her in Rylands near the Elite and the Vlei informal settlement.
"I went there but have not found her yet.”
PUBLIC APPEAL: Lavern Beukes of Manenberg
He says Lavern has a boyfriend.
“I went to her boyfriend’s house to try and see if he has any information, but he never seems to be there when I go to his house.
“I have tried to get police to go with me, as they have more authority, but nothing yet,” he says.
Police spokesperson Mihlali Majikela confirms a missing person's case has been opened and the investigation is ongoing.
