The man accused of raping four little girls in Salt River and who has been standing trial for nearly eight years, had his bail conditions amended so he can undergo an operation.
Riedewaan George, 56, is now allowed to be looked after by his family in Salt River for the duration of his recovery.
But he remains under house arrest and is only allowed to leave his home when he needs medical attention.
Previously, George was not allowed to live in the same community of his alleged victims, as he had been their neighbour.
George’s bail conditions were amended to allow him to return to his home after he had surgery on his shoulder.
The amended bail conditions are expected to be revisited once George has recovered.
George is facing nine counts of rape and sexual assault involving four girls between the ages of eight and 11-years-old.
Prosecutors are set to prove that George allegedly threatened the children with a firearm before raping them in his home between April and August 2012.
George was busted in September 2012 and was released on R5000 bail.
The mother of two of his alleged victims says she is disturbed that George’s bail conditions have been amended without consultation with her and the others: “One of his alleged victims is still at school and now she will have to walk past his home.
“We as a family are not kept in communication about the case.”
