Murder accused Corrine Jackson has been hospitalised for an undisclosed mental condition.
This was revealed at the Mitchells Plain Regional Court on Friday where Jackson’s trial was due to get underway.
She is accused of assaulting and murdering her estranged girlfriend, 18-year-old matriculant Nadine Esterhuizen, in September 2017.
Jackson’s lawyer, Advocate Mia, provided a medical certificate to show that his client had been receiving treatment at a clinic since last month.
Jackson missed her last court appearance on 15 March and was admitted to the clinic.
Mia said his client had a psychological condition but did not want to divulge more.
“We will present a medical report to state my client’s condition. It seems to be of a psychological nature I do not wish to disclose before the court.”

The matter was postponed to 9 May.
During her bail hearing, the investigating officer, Detective Constable Jacquin Paulse, said Jackson was mentally unstable and admitted to him that she listened to music to calm her and that she attempted to commit suicide a month before Nadine’s murder.
He said Jackson had a history of mental illness and failed to attend psychiatric sessions.
Jackson is out on R5 000 bail.
She allegedly stabbed Nadine close to 21 times inside a residence in Colorado Park, attempted to cut off her neck.
Jackson was found hiding in the toilet with a bloody dagger and a chopping knife.
Nadine had a protection order against Jackson.
