A skollie from Netreg accused of hijacking and killing a Factreton father at a petrol station has been sent to the mang after he was busted by Kensington police.
Cameron Ockhuis, 35, made his first appearance at the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for the murder of Winston Petersen, 59, who was gunned down at the Shell garage in Voortreller Road two weeks ago.
Shocking footage of the murder emerged on crime chat groups, showing the hijacker dressed in a grey hoodie, walking up to the dad.
He appears to be speaking to the victim, who turns around to get into his car.
The killer then shoots the man in the back of his head and drives off in his Honda BR-V.
A Daily Voice source says the suspect was traced to Goodwood after he had set the car on fire the next day to cover his tracks.
“He is a member of the Terrible Josters gang from Netreg and was traced to Goodwood,” says the source.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirms the arrest and says the skollie was caught on Monday.
CPF chairperson, Cheslyn Steenberg, says Ockhuis was sent to the mang after the matter was postponed for his bail hearing.
“He was remanded in custody and the case postponed to 27 October for a bail hearing.
“We have written a letter to the state prosecutor, opposing his release on bail due to the seriousness of the crime.
“How do you just shoot and kill somebody and then drive away.
“We hope for swift justice for Winston and his family and call on the courts to deny his bail application as he is a danger to society.”
