A warrant officer, who Cameron Wilson accused of moering him in order to sign a statement that implicates him in the murder of Stacey-Lee Mohale, 16, and attempted murder for her friend Abigail Plaatjies, says he wasn’t even at the police station when the alleged incident happened.
Wilson, 20, from Heinz Park, is facing 15 charges including, six counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, rape and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Policeman Reese Jansen took the stand and testified he had no contact with the accused until the day after his arrest, on 29 April 2015.
Last week Wilson told the court he was threatened and assaulted by Jansen.
“I was taken out and smacked again by a detective Reese. I don’t know why I was smacked,” he said.
“He then started threatening me. He said as ek nie gaan praat nie, gaan hy my mense vrek skiet, and then he said if I don’t sign, gaan hy my vrek skiet as ek uit gaan.”
But Jansen said he was at court at the time and the alleged attack is false.
“I was not present when the accused before court was arrested. I was attending a different matter at Wynberg Court at the time,” he testified.
“I only arrived later that day back at the [Nyanga] Police Station. I only had contact with Wilson the next day, early morning hours.
“He was brought from the holding cells.
"I informed him of the charges against him and he understood. I informed him of his rights and he understood it.
“Wilson then made a statement which I took down in my own handwriting. After the statement I read out what I had written and he understood it and signed.”
The trial resumes today.
