A Cape Town DJ and son of a well-known Eerste River businessman, who was murdered in 2018, is dead after being shot at a music festival.
Corné Brown, 22, was performing at the festival at the Prince Alfred Hamlet Sports Ground in Ceres on 1 February.
Brown was hospitalised in Worcester, where he passed away on Thursday, 13 February.
His girlfriend was also injured during the shooting incident.
In October last year, Brown was unharmed after a shooting at the Galaxy nightclub in Rylands.
His uncle, Johan Brown, who was struck twice in the head, managed to survive the attack.
Brown is the son of Hampshire “Hempie” Brown, 48, who was killed in a shooting in Eerste River in February 2018.

Hempie and his wife, Wendy, owned Hempie’s Bottle Store and Club Wendy’s in Kleinvlei.
He was killed outside his store in a drive-by shooting by three men in a Toyota Conquest .

Hempie died protecting her.
Speaking to Daily Voice on Sunday, a devastated Wendy confirmed her son’s death.
“Yes, he died at a hospital in Worcester.
"His girlfriend was with him. She was hurt but is OK now. Corné had two children and was very popular,” Wendy explained.

The devastated mother, who now only has a younger daughter, says she doesn’t know why anyone would want to kill her son.
“There was no reason to kill him. What did he ever do?” she says.
Brown’s aunt says the family was struggling to come to terms with his death.
“This is an extremely difficult time for us. He was such an outgoing person and anywhere he went, people loved him to bits. He really was a people’s person,” she says.
Police spokesperson FC van Wyk says: “This office can confirm that the mentioned person died on Thursday in a hospital in Worcester.
“A murder case was opened for investigation. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
“According to reports a shooting incident occurred on Saturday, 1 February at a music festival at the sports grounds in Prince Alfred Hamlet, where the deceased was shot and wounded.”

Before becoming a businessman, police named Hempie as a high-flyer in 2003 along with the likes of Rashied Staggie.
He faced charges of assault,
possession of dagga, reckless and negligent driving, and nine counts of selling liquor without a licence.
