A Cape Town music festival promoter accused of murder will stand trial in June.
David Forbes, who has admitted to shooting dead Toufiq Joseph at a petrol station in Gardens in 2015, appeared briefly in the Cape Town Regional Court yesterday.
Forbes claims he shot Joseph in self-defence after the two allegedly had a quarrel over stolen concert tickets.
He claims Joseph first attacked him with a knife.
Joseph was sitting inside his car at the time.
Forbes shot the 23-year-old through the car’s
driver’s seat window.
Forbes’ defence team and the State have
concluded all pre-trial formalities and said they would be ready to proceed with the trial in June.
The defence tried to convince the State to change the murder charge to culpable homicide but the State refused.
