An argument between two men in Kraaifontein yesterday left one stabbed to death and the other arrested.
Leeroy Geswindt, 32, was on his way to the Eikenfontein train station when he was attacked along Old Paarl Road in Scottsdene.
The devoted father, who was married for just over a year, lay along the busy road fighting for his life just before 12pm.
Firefighters dispatched to the scene tried to resuscitate him, but all attempts failed.
As she identified his body to officials, Leeroy’s widow, Charmaine Damon, 42, cried and screamed in horror.
IDENTIFY: Man's body
“We were only married for a year and two months. I didn’t even have time to change my surname yet,” she cried.
Chairmaine says she was at work when she got a call that changed her life.
“Someone called me at work and told me I need to get to Old Paarl Road now near the flats.
“He was such a soft and sensitive person. He was headed to Athlone to take clothes to his six-year-old daughter.
“We, unfortunately, did not have any children (together).
“Now, I had to come to a crime scene, identify my husband’s body and take his daughter’s clothes back home with me,” Charmaine cried.
