A former member of the Terrible Josters gang has openly piemped his own family for smokkeling drugs from a Belhar house along with an alleged gang boss.
The self-confessed hitman and drug runner, who has turned State witness in the ongoing high-profile trial at the Western Cape High Court, spilled the beans in a debate with the defence lawyer for Elton Ely, the alleged leader for the Terrible Josters gang in Belhar.
The man, who claimed he was closest to Ely when joining the gang over 14 years ago, told the court that Ely was the dik ding who smokkeled drugs and gave “opdragte” for the Josters in Belhar while living in a flat in the Wilger Park complex in Bellville, where he also stayed at times.
Ely’s defence lawyer contested this, saying the witness had begged Ely for a place to stay in January 2012 after he was thrown out by his family in Belhar due to his drug use.
OUTED: Alleged Terrible Josters leader Elton Ely.
The lawyer said Ely gave the witness a place to stay under strict instructions that he does not tik in his house.
But the annoyed witness pulled back his shoulders and told the court he never begged for blyplek as the home where Ely allegedly smokkeled in Belhar was owned by his ouma who had since died.
“I have never begged anyone for blyplek. I did live with accused 5 in Wilger Park.
“Why would I beg him when that house in Belhar is my ouma’s house where nobody will tell me (what to do)?
“Accused 5 still smokkels from that house today,” he said as he gave Judge Owen Rogers the names of several relatives currently occupying the property.
