A brazen skelm was put behind bars after he broke into Grassy Park Police Station for a second time, this time to try and steal confiscated dop.
The thirsty thief decided to steal beers by breaking into the evidence room at the cop shop.
According to a source, the man was caught after he forced a window open and climbed through the burglar bars.
“The nightshift was on duty and in the early morning, one officer went to his car to fetch his jacket when he saw the
window was open,” says source.
“The door was locked but when he went to look, he found the man had climbed through the burglar bars and was hiding behind a case of beers.”
The source says the dief had a laptop bag to carry the biere.
“He had two Caste beers and one Black Label in the bag and they arrested him.
“He was taken to the holding cells and questioned where he lied and gave a false name but the cops were wakker.
“He said he was from Steenberg but he is actually from Grassy Park.
“One of the officers recognised him as the same man who broke into the station a few years ago.
“He broke into a senior cop’s office and tried to steal a bulletproof vest but was also caught.
“We think he wants to be a police officer,” the source joked.
Police spokesperson Colonel André Traut said: “At 2am a 36-year-old male was arrested at Grassy Park Police Station on a charge of house breaking after he was caught in an exhibit room. The suspect is due to make a court appearance in Wynberg Magistrates’ Court”.
