A dom skelm, who tried to steal from one of the toughest cops on the Cape Flats, will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court on a charge of theft on Thursday.
The 37-year-old woman from Lavender Hill was caught red-handed at Grassy Park Police Station on Monday, when she stole various valuables from Station Commander, Colonel Dawood Laing.
The woman was previously convicted for shoplifting and instructed by the court to do community service at the cop shop, but met her match when she crossed Laing.
Dramatic scenes unfolded in Laing’s office shortly before 1pm after the woman had cleaned it.
Laing says he was in a meeting and came to his office to work on his laptop and noticed the mouse was not working.
“I saw the receptor was not in the laptop and then I looked in a box on my desk and saw that one of my watches was not in the box,” he says.
STASH: Stolen goods found
He shouted for the cleaner to come to his office and confused cops rushed to the office as Laing searched his belongings, looking for his knife, memory sticks and money.
“Waar is my goed?” he asked the woman, and she replied: “Ek wietie, innie bin.”
The woman was searched and cops discovered two watches, a knife, money, a modem and other items on her.
“The courts give you a chance and then you catch on this k@k? Ek gaan jou opsluit,” Laing told her.
She took officers to a bin in the police yard where they discovered more watches and other valuables taken from other cops at the station.
“Jy is klaar hier vir shoplifting en nou gaan jy weer mang vir dieselfde k@k,” a cop said.
The woman was charged with theft and possession of stolen items.
