A slim skollie from Grassy Park who evaded police for months met his match on Friday when wakker cops caught him hiding inside the base of his bed.
Police station commander, Colonel Dawood Laing, says the 24-year-old man who is a
member of the Six Bobs gang was wanted for pointing a
firearm and managed to hide away for five months.
On Friday morning, Laing and his men swooped on several gang houses across Grassy Park in an attempt to bring down crime.
He says at the house, residents led cops to a room where the skollie and his girlfriend slept.
“It was after 5am when we went knocking. The people of the house showed us the room where he sleeps with his
girlfriend, but it was locked.
“We knocked, but she told us she was getting dressed and when she opened the door we could see something was wrong.”
COPS TOO WAKKER: Colonel Dawood Laing of Grassy Park SAPS
Laing says the nervous woman told cops her berk didn’t sleep there the night before, but he didn’t believe her.
“You could just see she was lying. We started searching the small room and then I lifted the bed base and there he was
hiding.
“He made a hole in the base and it was turned around so he could easily slip in. It looks like he had done it before.
“Nobody would have
suspected he could be there because the base is so small and there are no legs on it.”
The man was arrested and will appear in the Wynberg
Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
During the four-hour operation, cops executed six arrest warrants for various offences and issued R23 000 worth of fines.
