A dom skelm from Heideveld has been sent to Pollsmoor Prison after cops caught him making pancakes with peanut butter he had just stolen from a delivery man on Monday.
Acting Manenberg police station commander, Colonel Sanele Zama, says the detective could not contain his laughter when Nazier “Ziri” Andrews, 29, told cops the “ pannekoekies didn’t come out lekker” as they arrested him.
He says on Monday at 1pm, a delivery truck stopped at the Chain Foods Supermarket in Heideveld and delivered 10 boxes of peanut butter.
The delivery man had loaded all the boxes into a trolley when he was robbed.
“The delivery man was walking into the store with the trolley while the driver was locking the bakkie, when the suspect ran up to them and stole one of the boxes and ran away.
“They came to the station to open a case and told officers that the community identified the suspect as ‘Ziri’,” says Zama.

Detective Sergeant Daryl van Noie told the driver he knew where to find Ziri and asked the driver to ride with him to a pella pos in Ascension Road.
“Here they found the suspect making pancakes with the same peanut butter he had just stolen,” adds Zama.
“While arresting him, he told the detective that the pancakes did not come out lekker and he laughed.
“It was discovered that he had no idea what he was stealing and was disappointed when he got home and realised that he had not stolen something of real value.
“So like Robin Hood he gave away the peanut butter in his community.
“He gave eight jars to one man and then gave one to his mother and one to his sister.”
Van Noie recovered 10 of the 12 jars of peanut butter as the others were used to make the pancakes.

Meanwhile at the pella pos, the detective also spotted and arrested Abdul Maliek Floris, 27, for the robbery of a Pakistani shop owner in Heideveld the previous day where he was caught on camera allegedly stealing R200.
The duo appeared in Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday from where they were sent to Pollsmoor Prison and the cases were postponed to 9 October.
