A man from Mitchells Plain says he has been waiting for “skelme builders” to complete his
R25 000 building project.
Ricardo de la Cruz says in April he made a deal with brothers Joe, Denzil and Kurt Pieterse to build a new carport for him.
Kurt is no stranger to the Daily Voice after two families previously complained about him.
Ricardo says work had begun as soon as he made the whole payment of R25 000 on 29 April, but ground to a halt a week later.
“The three of them came here together, but as soon as they got paid, it was just one excuse after the other,” he says.
He says they worked one week at his home and haven’t been back since.
“They dropped off the material, and put up poles for the carport as well as the roof sheeting, which is tied down haphazardly. They didn’t put in rivets or waterproof it or varnish the wood,” he says.
ANOTHER COMPLAINT: Builder Kurt Pieterse made ‘promises’
He says they were also supposed to install metal bars on his fence, but failed to do it.
Kurt Pieterse did not respond to phone calls or messages from the Daily Voice.
Now Ricardo said he has had enough.“I have phoned them and messaged them and they keep promising to come, but they never do,” the angry man says. “All I currently have are promises.”
In January, Bellville pensioner Kishor Harri, 64, opened a case of fraud and launched his own investigation into Pieterse after he failed to complete work he’d been paid for.
He says he paid Pieterse R21 000 to pave his driveway and rebuild the fence and gates, but was forced to use his children’s education savings to pay a new builder R30k to complete the work.
In February an Ottery couple said they paid Pieterse R21 000 two years ago for incomplete work.
