A woman, who saw the man accused of killing Lauren Dryden, says his eyes showed no remorse.
The victim’s relative Deborah Ruiters, 42, says Fernando Isaacs, 36, just stared at the people seeking justice for the Bonteheuwel mom of two in Goodwood Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Isaacs allegedly approached Lauren outside her workplace after she had completed night shift in Epping on the morning on 20 November.
Her killer robbed her of her cellphone and then shot her before fleeing the scene.
Cops arrested Isaacs in less than two days.
He was charged with the murder and made his first appearance in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Court last Monday, but because the crime was committed in Epping, his case was transferred to Goodwood.
Deborah says she didn’t get to see the accused last week when she joined a march by the Bonteheuwel community demanding he be denied bail.
Isaacs’ lawyer was not present at court on Monday and he is set to appear today for bail information.
“It was my first time seeing him, face-to-face,” explains Deborah.
“His eyes show no remorse, he seems cold-hearted.
“It seemed like he was already tired of being there, like he could say to the magistrate ‘just get it over with’.”
The angry woman stood up during court proceeding and yelled at Isaacs.
Showing him a T-shirt with Lauren’s face, she shouted: “Do you see what you did to us?”
A court official then told her to sit down.
“Even when I shouted, that man just looked at me with a blank stare. I thought I would get a reaction, but [got] nothing,” Deborah says.
“I actually feel sorry for him, maybe he was raised in an environment where he never felt love.”’
