A major clothing retailer store was robbed by skelms in Mitchells Plain during the early hours of Friday morning.
It was the second Pep Stores winkel to be hit in the space of two weeks on the Cape Flats.
Despite metal roller shutters, Pep in the Town Centre was raided by an unknown number of assailants, who got away with an undisclosed number of clothing items and shoes.
The store, which was open for business as usual after the robbery on Friday, was heavily vandalised by the skelms.
The front glass panels were smashed in while rakke inside were overturned and clothing strewn everywhere.
Pep Stores Communications Manager, Mariki Schwiebus, confirmed the burglary.
“I can confirm the incident. The thieves broke through the roller shutters, lock and window to gain entry to the store. The exterior and interior of the store was vandalised. A considerable amount of stock from the store was stolen. Clothing and footwear were taken. The store was open for business on Friday,” Schwiebus said.
Two weeks ago, Pep stores in Pelican Park Mall was robbed in broad daylight.
Three suspects pretended to be customers, and while one waited to buy airtime, the others browsed through items in the store.
When he got to the till, the suspect buying airtime drew a gun and demanded cash.
Police said a small amount of money was taken and a fourth suspect waited outside in a getaway vehicle.
No arrests have been made.
