Police are investigating the murder of a 17-year-old altar girl who was found stabbed to death inside her Mitchells Plain home.
Police sources reveal the body of Carly Isaacs was found by her father, Allistaire Isaacs, who had been asleep in another room after completing a shift as a meter taxi driver.
On Sunday morning, the teen had gone to church with her mom and two sisters but returned on her own at about 9.15am to change her clothes and collect her robe for the second service, where she would be performing altar duties.
TRAGIC: Carly Isaacs’ cellphone and house keys were missing
Carly’s dad, who was on his way to the loo, apparently saw her sitting on a chair in the TV room and called out her name.
He told police when she didn’t respond, he touched her shoulder and noticed blood dripping.
He then realised his daughter had been stabbed and called the police and paramedics.
It’s alleged that Carly’s underwear had also been moved down to her legs.
The girl had been wearing a dress and sandles.
SHOCK: Dad Allistaire
On Monday police could neither confirm nor deny whether the teen had been raped.
Carly’s Samsung cellphone and the house keys were reported missing.
Meanwhile, Allistaire has not been available for an interview, telling the Daily Voice on Monday and on Sunday “it was not a good time to speak”.
“We will be identifying the body at the mortuary and can only speak in a few days’ time, I will let you know when I am ready,” he said.
On Sunday, the Christ the Redeemer Church in Westridge took to Facebook to express their shock at their young congregant’s murder.
“Good afternoon parishioners, it is with a heavy heart that we are writing to inform you of Carly Isaacs’ passing earlier today. She returned home to collect her robe to assist in the second service when she was stabbed to death at home,” the church said.
“Our deepest condolences on the loss of a daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend.”
Police are working around the clock to determine who had entered the house and taken Carly’s life.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, says: “Mitchells Plain police are investigating a case of murder after a 17-year-old girl was found with a stab wound to her chest. She died due to her injuries.
“The circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation with no arrest so far.”
