Cops have charged two teenage brothers with murder after a mentally disabled 17-year-old boy was robbed and stabbed to death on his birthday.
The suspects, aged 14 and 16, were caught after they fled the area, minutes after Mikyle Bruiners was knifed in the chest.
The teens grew up together in Beulah Court along Willow Road in Parkwood.
Grassy Park police said they received a tip-off that four boys were responsible for killing the teen.
Colonel Dawood Laing says: “There were four teenagers who were involved, but we have only charged two and the other two are witnesses. They were there, but they didn’t do anything.
“They have been charged with murder, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and robbery with a weapon other than firearm.”
Mikyle’s mom Charleen Bruiners, 36, says she is happy about the arrest, but confused that the police let two suspects go.
“One of those boys they let go is the one who started all of this,” says the heartbroken ma.
The suspects allegedly robbed Mikyle of his silver chain which he got from his father on his birthday on Saturday.
“He took the chain from my son and my son died because of what he instigated,” adds Charleen.
She said when Mikyle told his family who stole the chain, the laaities left and fetched knives.
The teens stabbed Mikyle’s uncle Charles Bruiners, 35, inju-
ring his hand.
Mikyle’s stepfather Ashwill Piet, 39, is in hospital after he was stabbed in the back.
Grandma Anne Bruiners, 62, says Mikyle was attacked when he ran to his uncle.
He saw one of the suspects fighting with Charles and as he ran he was stabbed in the chest.
“He lived for a few minutes and [then] he died on the scene.”
