Two men were shot and killed within minutes of each other in Scottsdene on Sunday afternoon.
The one victim, who lives in Northpine, allegedly visited the area to buy drugs in Cavalleria Street when he was shot in the head.
Residents say while the first victim lay dead in the street, and despite police being on the scene, bullets started flying again.
“We had to duck and dive to get away and nobody even knew where the bullets were coming from. Then as we ran we saw another body, 26-year-old Rayno Davids was shot in front of his mother’s house,” said a witness.
Davids’ distraught mother said he recently came out of jail.
The shocked mom says continued violence in the area has turned Scottsdene into a nightmare for all who live there.
“I just went to the bathroom and heard the shots outside my yard. My son had just got out of prison. We rushed to get him to the hospital, but he died on the way.
“Our kids are dying like flies in Scottsdene,” she woefully says.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Andrè Traut, confirms the two killings, which happened within half an hour of each other. But according to police records, Davids was shot before the unknown man in Cavalleria Street.
“This office can confirm that a murder occurred around 15:15 in Joseph Street Scottsdene [on Sunday] afternoon," Traut says.
“A 26-year-old male was shot and killed. “At around 15:45, a 32-year-old male was shot and killed in Cavalleria Street, Scottsdene.
“The circumstances surrounding these two cases are being investigated and no one has been arrested as yet."
