Mystery surrounds the discovery of two bullet-ridden bodies in Bonteheuwel on Tuesday.
Shortly before 3am, Bishop Lavis police were called to Teak Road where the bodies of two men and a blood-stained vehicle were found.
According to a police source, the victims are unidentified and it is not clear whether or not they were Bonteheuwel residents.
The first man was found with six gunshot wounds which include two each in the back, chest and head.
The second man was shot four times in the head.
Police also confiscated a white Opel found on the scene with bloodstains on the front passenger door, and four gun
cartridges.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut, confirms the incident and says circumstances around the double murder are being investigated.
When Daily Voice visited the area on Tuesday, residents were puzzled by the shooting.
A woman, who asked not to be named, says they did not hear any shots.
“Ons weet niks, mevrou. Ons het niks gesien nie. Die polisie is hier en daar is die lyke. Ons ken nie daai ouens nie.”
Ward councillor Angus Mckenzie is
concerned about the lack of information in the case.
“This incident is very concerning and this area has been very quiet over the past few months so this shooting is out of place,” he says.
“I call on residents who may have witnessed something to come forward so we can get to the bottom of this. If they are scared they can come to my office.”
