A budding Lotus River soccer star was selected to participate in the Manchester Cup in April this year but needs a little help getting there.
Sabien Europa, 11, needs R30 000 to make it to this international stage to show off his footie skills, which his proud mom Lucille Kansley says is sure to catch the eye of scouts.
The single mom of two is the breadwinner and says she believes her son can be the next big thing for Cape Town on the soccer field.
All-rounder Sabien started playing soccer at the age of seven and excels as a striker.
Lucille says: “Sabien is an exceptional soccer player, currently playing for Stephanians, and I believe that his excellence in this sport will give him the ticket he needs to uplift himself from his humble Lotus River roots and potentially be the next Benni McCarthy.”
SUPPORT: Sabien needs R30k
“His special talents have already been spotted by scouts and he has already played soccer internationally in Abu Dhabi as part of a global youth
competition.
“In that instance, the trip was completely sponsored so there was no major financial cost to myself.
“As a single mom of two, working a minimum pay job, like any mother in my position would love to see my children grasp the opportunities afforded to them.
“It would be gut-wrenching to see Sabien miss this fantastic opportunity because we were unable to raise the estimated R30 000 required to participate in the team.”
