Step aside Gigi and Bella Hadid, the Cape Flats has its own model sisters gracing the cover of an international magazine.
Twins Jodie and Justine Petersen, 22, are from Pelican Heights and recently appeared on the cover of Glamour magazine in France.
The siblings mesmerised the French with their je ne sais quoi and made it to the cover of the September/October spring edition, said to be most influential as it sets the fashion trend for the following summer.

Speaking from their home on Sunday, the bubbly young women say they’ve worked hard for this “opportunity of a lifetime”.
They started modelling from a young age and are signed to Cover Models Management.
Justine says: “At times we styled ourselves, other times we had a stylist, make-up artists; it was really cool. There were also many early mornings involved.”
Justine, who graduated last year with a diploma in Clothing Management at CPUT, currently works for a local designer in Cape Town.
Jodie is in her final year in Retail Business Management, also at CPUT.
The girls say they were excited when they were informed that Glamour wanted them for a shoot, which was done in Cape Town.

They were even more thrilled when they learnt they made it to the cover.
Finishing each other’s sentences, they say: “This is unbelievable. We don’t know how this happened. We are truly blessed and favoured.
“We have been in the industry for a while and we have been pushing to break through and get something big.”
The pair say from next year, they will be doing modelling full-time, hopefully with some international travelling thrown in as the Glamour shoot was done at home.
“This has opened doors for us, we are now being recognised in the industry and it will definitely mean more jobs for us,” says Jodie.
The young beauties also featured in commercials for big corporations such as Standard Bank, Foschini retail group’s ClubX magazine, Telkom, Zando and Coca-Cola.

There’s just one problem. Their identical looks often result in puzzlement on jobs.
“On a shoot there is confusion at times when we work together. We mostly work on our own projects and have worked together about three or five times.
“Many times people just refer to each of us as ‘the twin’,” says Justine laughing.
