Two suspects accused of robbing and murdering a well known Mitchells Plain pub owner will undergo an identity parade before their bail application begins.
Suspects Donald Conrad, 37, and his co-accused Dane Brandt were told this at the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The two are accused of murdering Calvin “Kabolie” Goliath, 65, on the morning of May 19.
Calvin was the owner of Premium Sports Bar and Dagbreek Liquors in Westridge, Mitchells Plain.
Conrad and Brandt are facing charges of murder, attempted murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Conrad allegedly confessed to police hours after his arrest, admitting he robbed and killed Calvin.
Brandt was arrested after “vital evidence” linked him to the crime scene.
A vehicle, a VW Golf MK2, which cops believe was used during the murder, was also seized.
The men heard their formal bail application is expected to begin on June 20 but that they needed to face an identity parade first.
Calvin was sitting inside his car and was about to open his business at 8am when he was approached by two armed men.
One of the robbers shot him while the other robbed him.
A motorist who had been passing by and saw Goliath being robbed opened fire with his own gun and a shootout ensued.
The robbers got away in the red VW Golf.
Calvin’s daughter-in-law, who also works at the pub, found him bleeding on the pavement.
