Manenberg police are appealing for help in finding a father who has been missing for nearly two months after visiting relatives in Mitchell’s Plain.
The worried wife of Reinhardt Avontuur, 36, of Cathkin Village says her family has searched hospitals and mortuaries since March, but have been unable to find him.
“I last saw him on 14 March where we live. He told me he is going to his sister in Mitchell’s Plain.
“Sometimes he would sleep there and then come home, but when I didn’t hear from him and realised his phone stayed off I called his sister.
“She told me that he went to his brother in Durbanville, but his brother told me he left,” says Rene, 31.
She went to Manenberg Police Station to report him missing, but says he has disappeared.
“We have looked all over for him and I am very worried because he has an eight-month-old baby girl at home.
“The detectives called me to say they went to Tygerberg Mortuary and did not find anyone matching his description.
“His family has phoned the morgues and hospitals, but he is nowhere. Mother’s Day is very emotional and we can’t even celebrate. We just want to know if he is OK.”
Reinhardt was last seen wearing black jeans, a black cap, black Lacoste takkies and a black jacket with “Matric 2005” printed on it.
Anyone who has seen him is asked to call Sergeant Natasha Landers on 082 469 7628.
