Hanover Park residents are up in arms after a 16-year-old girl was attacked, tied up and raped in her home, allegedly by her aunt’s boyfriend.
Residents living in the section called Cowboy Town say they got a skrik on Monday when the teen was seen running over a veldjie to her ouma’s house with a shopping bag taped around her neck, screaming for help.
According to a police source, the girl was at home with her 19-year-old aunt when the boyfriend came knocking, asking for money.
The meisie knew him, so she allowed him into the house, but then he suddenly hit her over the head and she fell flou.

When she woke up, her hands and feet were bound with sellotape and a plastic bag put over her head and the man raped her.
“The auntie, who is only 19, was upstairs sleeping and as she came down, he attacked her too but did not rape her. He also used sellotape to tie her up,” says the source.
Residents say shortly after spotting the girl running across the field, their family home was surrounded by police.
“ Sy het gehardloop met die Shoprite sakkie nog op haar kop na haar ouma se huis toe,” says a neighbour who asked not to be named.
“Everyone saw and it wasn’t long when the cops and forensics people came.
“ Die hele huis was ’n crime scene.”
The teen’s shocked family has declined to comment on the incident.
