The family of a 13-year-old girl are looking for help to open a case with police after she was allegedly raped and sodomised by two men and a boy in a gang initiation ceremony.
The family says they tried to lay a charge with Mitchells Plain SAPS but was allegedly told that the sex acts “sounded like it was consensual”.
The alleged incident took place on 29 January, and the girl says she was lured to a house affiliated to a local gang by a female tikkop.
Here a 14-year-old boy was supposed to perform the ‘rape of a virgin’, to become a member of the gang.
The girl says she was drugged, and while she was unable to move, she was aware of everything being done to her.
Afterwards, she was “thrown out of the house, bloodied and torn”.
“The boy was there first and I wanted to push him away, but I could not. I screamed and I fought and then he was done,” she says.
“Two other men also did it at the same time with me. I fainted.”
The child’s parents say her private parts were “torn” but when they tried to open a case, officers allegedly told them there “was not enough evidence to prosecute”.
Faiza Jacobs from the Mitchells Plain Crisis Forum says they are now trying to assist the family.
“We know who these people are. We know where they live. They are threatening this girl’s mother, telling her they are going to do to her what they did to her daughter,” says Faiza.
“The family have left Mitchells Plain for their own protection.”
Mitchells Plain SAPS did not respond to queries about the matter.
