A group of women in Bonteheuwel on Thursday held a massive Christmas lunch for more than 300 kids in the area.
There were smiles all around as each child received a Santa Shoe Box, filled with toiletries and a small gift.
Sandra Jantjies and a group of women have made this an annual event, saying they wanted to give the children “Christmas cheer”.
The local Multipurpose Centre was buzzing as the kids enjoyed a lekker meal, party packs and their shoe boxes.
GIVING GEES: Sandra Jantjies
Earlier this year the women made collections for the project by asking the community, businesses and organisations to contribute the decorated shoe boxes and fill them with items like washcloths, toothbrushes, soap, a T-shirt, socks, vests and school stationery.
Sandra says she was astounded at the response. “We had such a lot of help and were able to bless our children with so much.
“I am happy and would like to thank our team and all our sponsors - Dr. and Mrs. De Villiers, Melissa Phelps from Icon Properties, Haroon’s Butchery, Mr. Parker at Shell Garage and Thrive Social Development in Bonteheuwel.”
