The man accused of shooting a popular young entrepreneur from Pinelands outside a Cape Town nightclub over the weekend has been released on R2000 bail.
Tributes poured in and candle light vigils were held for Franco D’este, 20, who died at Christiaan Barnard Hospital on Saturday after being shot outside a nightclub in Loop Street.
His heartbroken mother, Natasha, says the youngster attended a birthday party on Friday night and later went clubbing.
But the family got an urgent call in the early hours of Saturday morning from his friends who rushed him to hospital after he was shot.
She explains while they are still confused about what led up to the shooting they were told by his friends that the gunman, Ethan Fisher, 22, had allegedly accused them of following him which they denied but he turned and fired at Franco.
On Saturday several friends took to social media paying tributes to Franco whom they describe as a friendly guy and peacemaker.
“He does not currently dance, but when he was 11 he came second in the World Dance Championships, that is why so many dancers know him.
“He was planning to study next year and was exploring various entrepreneurship opportunities like the Afriking clothing label he created with his friends,” says Natasha.
VICTIM: Franco D’este of Pinelands
Fisher appeared briefly at the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he submitted a bail application through defence attorney, Advocate Bruce Hendricks.
The State did not oppose bail as Fisher had handed himself and his gun over at Cape Town Central Police Station on Monday.
The case was postponed to 29 November.
