A shocking 75% of South Africans die without leaving a will behind.
This week - 13 to 17 September - is National Wills Week and people can have their will drawn up free of charge.
The Law Society of SA initiated Wills Week to ensure that members of the public have their wills drafted by practising attorneys, who have the necessary knowledge and expertise to ensure that your will is valid by complying with all the legal requirements in the Wills Act.
Attorneys participating in the initiative will display posters, or can be found on the LSSA website at www.lssa.org.za.
To draft a will you need:
• Your ID document
• A list of what you own and who you want to bequeath it to.
• A list of beneficiaries and their ID numbers.
