The cousin of 14-year-old Camron Britz, who allegedly raped and murdered her, is expected to make certain “admissions” when his trial begins in May.
Yagyah Robyn, 19, made an appearance at the Western Cape High Court on Friday where his pre-trial proceedings were under way.
Sporting a fez, Robyn was almost not recognisable as he had gained weight and looked fresh and rested.
Robyn is also facing sexual assault charges involving young boys at the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court which had previously been provisionally withdrawn against him in 2015.
On Friday, his lawyer, Advocate Emile de Villiers, told the court his client was ready for his trial, set for 7 May until 28 June.
He said Robyn would make certain admissions but did not elaborate. His client is yet to enter a plea.
“The accused is in custody and the accused will make certain admissions,” De Villiers said.
“We are ready for trial.”
Robyn was asked if he understood what was happening, to which he said ‘yes’.
Camron’s aunt, Anna Bell, said the family was ready to hear the truth about Camron’s death.
“‘We are ready for the case because everything is on him, he can’t hide now,” she said.
“He must confess.”
Prosecutors are set to prove Robyn lured Cameron into a bush along Slangkop Street, Ocean View, on 1 July.
Cameron’s half-naked body was found the next day, by her brother, 11.
The same day, cops discovered a bunker in the bush near the scene, believed to be Robyn’s secret lair.
Camron predicted her own death in poems she wrote weeks before the incident.
