In the spirit of going back to school, Embrace Your Curves is giving back to the community of Mitchells Plain, the home town of founder Candice Manuel.
Candice, who currently lives in Parow, says she never had the opportunity to study further and now wants to give unemployed women the opportunities she once yearned for by offering them
bursaries.
“I’m doing this because I never had money to study when I finished school. I could only study further when I started working,” she says.
“I had to work, model and run a kids party business to pay for my studies and I could only do this at the age of 25.
“Our aim is to grant underprivileged women the opportunity to empower herself and do this with an all expenses bursary including the cost of course fees, textbooks and travel.”
To stand a chance to win, email a motivation letter along with a copy of your matric certificate and ID to [email protected].
Candice says: “This bursary covers kids straight out of matric up to ladies of 40-years-old, as in our communities we see so many teenage moms who never furthered their education because they were staying at home moms.”
Candidates must have passed matric, be between the ages of 18 and 40, must be unemployed and live in Mitchells Plain.
The selection is based on the full application criteria from various TVET professionals and institutions. Applications close on 11 February 2020.
Successful candidates who have been shortlisted will be contacted via email.
