Abigail Ruiters, who allegedly killed her own son, appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Wednesday with her new baby.
Ruiters and her berk, Ameerudien Peters, are accused of murdering Ruiters’ one-year-old son, Jeremiah Ruiters, at their Kensington home in June last year.
Ruiters also faces a charge of child neglect and Peters faces a charge of rape.
The tired-looking mother of three appeared alone in the dock, with her and Peters’ baby daughter.
The baby girl, with chubby cheeks, is the spitting image of her father.
The five-month-old was handed over to a court orderly.
State prosecutor Welsch asked for a postponement and to have the bail application marked as final.
The matter has been on the court roll for more than six months.
“Accused one [Ruiters] was not brought to court and neither is his legal counsel present. The investigating officer is also not present at court. We, therefore, ask for a remand,” Welsch submitted.
The matter was postponed to 16 March.
