Two men have been murdered while their 16-year-old neighbour is
fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot and wounded hours later.
One of the men is Bulelani Mgatyelwa, 38, who had been gambling with six other men on Sunday just after 2am in Pakhuis Street, Tafelsig, when they were confronted by a group of approximately 11 men.
The man’s girlfriend, who asked not to be identified, says the attackers had split into two groups and that there had been one gunman.
Bulelani’s bereaved mother,
Margaret Dubeni, 59, says one of the other gamblers, and not her son, was the target.
“My son was not a gangster. One of the men that was there was the
target,” she says.
“Bulelani died in hospital hours after the shooting. He was just playing a game of dice when gunshots
were fired.”

Cops confirm that an 18-year-old man was also shot and killed during the incident.
The following day, Bulelani’s 16-year-old neighbour, who is in Grade 8 at Spine Road High School, was shot and wounded while standing next to his friend’s car in Katdoring Street after the car got stuck.
A relative says the teen had been with a group of five children, between 13 and 18, and were on their way to buy a bus ticket when the shots were fired by men in a car.
The teen’s parents were at his bedside at the hospital on Tuesday.
GRIEVING: Mom Margaret Dubeni.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, says the motives for the shootings are under investigation.
