A Ruyterwacht mom desperately needs assistance in raising R36 000 to help fund her son’s dream of attending the Paris World Games in July.
Proud mother, Juliana Roos-Fortune, 36, says as a family they have managed to raise R3 500 so far for her 14-year-old son Jay-Tee Roos.
“We managed to raise the money by saving and through family donations,” she says.
“I am extremely excited for him as he’s talented. He started playing soccer at the age of seven, and is a top achiever and goal scorer,” Juliana says.
The mom of two says gaining sponsorship for her son to attend the games and a soccer workshop from 6 to 15 July would mean the world to her.
“If there’s anything I could give him in this world, it would be this trip. The experience he could gain from this no one can take away from him. This trip will also give him a greater perception of the world and open his eyes to see there’s so much more the world has to offer.
“This opportunity will also be able to open many doors for him,” Juliana says.
The excited Cape Town City FC fan, who plays the centre attacking midfield position, says he aspires to be like his role models, Bafana Bafana player Craig Martin and Brazil footie star Neymar.
“Going to France would be the biggest opportunity of my lifetime. It is an excellent place to pursue my career and get scouted. This would mean that I can show children my age that anything is possible with hard work, persistence and keeping your eye on the goal,” Jay-Tee says.
