A 14-year-old unreleased song, written by Vicky Sampson, will finally get airplay this month, after the legendary diva collaborated with RJ Benjamin to re-record Love & Miracles.
The genesis of the track dates back to 2007, when RJ, a then-rising star, singer and music producer, met the already famous Vicky.
At the time, the two were building a strong working relationship and friendship.
RJ had acted as the producer on several songs Vicky had penned.
One track she presented was a ballad titled Love & Miracles, a song she had written with another celebrated musician and bassist, Trevor Donjeany, best known and for his work with the late, great Johnny Clegg
Sadly, the original recording was shelved due to a lack of finance to complete the project.
RJ says: “We are very excited about the release and when I found this song again during lockdown, I asked why it’s never been released.
“I immediately got onto working on the song to put it out there. We re-recorded the entire song and now it’s out there.
“We all need Love and a Miracle especially during this time.”
Upon re-listening to the track, it became clear to RJ that the song deserved to be heard by both his and Vicky’s loyal fans.
The duo reconnected on the phone and agreed to re-record and re-release the song in 2021.
Vicky tells the Daily Voice: “I am so grateful that RJ took this song and brought it back to life.
“RJ and I always believed in my songs and I loved what he did with Love & Miracles.
“Now it’s finally time for the song to be heard. We are very happy to have it out and hope it’s going to give people the enjoyment we got while making it.”
The song is available on digital platforms.
