In order to raise funds for families who have children suffering from cancer, an online pub quiz will be held on Saturday by the My Child Has Cancer Trust (MCHCT).
The organisation has been dedicated to provide families with emotional and financial support for the last 10 years and are asking the public to participate.
Eugene Mathews, a local comedian and ambassador for MCHCT, says: “When a child has cancer, it not only affects the child but also the parents, aunts, grandparents and everybody close to that child.
“What MCHCT does is provide support to those people and they do this through a lot of ways including the simple method of just providing a shoulder to cry on or an ear to bend.”
Another way that the organisation helps is to raise funds for transportation and food.
“More often than not, families have to travel great distances to hospitals so that their children can get help and that costs money, which the MCHCT helps them out with.
“They also provide families with some groceries during those months when they do not have enough.”
On Saturday, Eugene will MC the quiz, something he has never done online before, and participants can take part in one of three sessions at 5pm, 7pm or 9pm.
Anybody looking to take part in the quiz can visit www.quiznights.co.za/quiz-nights-sa-venues.php for more information.
Tickets for the quiz costs R60.
