It was definitely a showstopper of an episode on Sunday as the seven Idols SA finalists let their voices be heard.
In a surprise move, there were no eliminations this week and instead the brief was to “pull out all the stops” and to give viewers a performance they will never forget.
This week’s guest judge, Thembi Seete, told them: “Take viewers on a journey, feel every minute of the performance and have the best time.”
And they all delivered, with especially the Cape Town contestants really impressing the judges.
Our Kaapse talents Berry and Daylin Sass made sure Cape Town remained relevant in the show.
Contestants showed off their dance moves and showcased their vocal talents against a backdrop of flashing lights, gevaarlike special effects and background dancers, without losing their stage presence.
S’22Kile performed Beyoncé’s Dance for You, Sia Mzizi did De Mthuda’s John Wick, Karabo sang Aretha Franklin’s Respect, Nqobie sang Dance Like We are Making Love by Ciara, and Kevin closed the show with We Dance Again by Black Coffee and Nakhane.
Bothasig mom of four, Berry, belted out Christina Aguilera’s Something’s Got A Hold Of Me, while Daylin dazzled and judge Unathi took a bow for his performance of Black Coffee and Usher’s LaLaLa.
Berry told Daily Voice: “Making it to the showstopper round is a huge milestone.
“I’m so grateful to have been given this opportunity, it was absolutely mind-blowing and magical!
She added: “I’m really missing home, my kids and my husband and wish I could just get to hug them. It would give me such a boost to be able to see them again. It's been a long two months.”
Daylin jokingly said: “I miss my mommy’s food but I need to stay strong.
“Showstopper is everything I expected it to be and more. I’ve always watched showstopper week every year, and told myself I’ll be there one day.”
