Local musicians are urged to make use of a free music workshop being offered by local band Jeodhouse.
The band director Devanish Hendricks, along with his wife Juanita, have opened up their Plumstead studio to accommodate singers from around Cape Town to take advantage of their open week where they offer a free workshop and recording sessions which includes music production, songwriting and recording, and tips about the music business.
Devanish says: “This isn’t only for struggling artists but for any artist who wants to make use of the opportunity. We do live recording sessions on Facebook and this allows the artist to also get the chance of interacting with a “live audience” while we are recording music, making a music video and working on perfecting certain points of the songs.”
Mitchells Plain singer Vezz joined the open week and had his live session on Monday, where he recorded his original song Is it love and some covers like Prince’s Purple Rain.
“I enjoyed every minute, I felt like a boss because everyone made me feel this way; Ashur Petersen playing his electric guitar made the song new, with Ravone Snyders on bass, Jermaine on drums and Devanish on the keys. My heart is full.”
Some other names, who joined the Open Week so far, include Heart and Soul, Marco Stepehns, No Ordinary Worshippers, Peace Within, Donny Dires, Public Opinion and more.
The open week ends this Friday and Jeodhouse encourages the public to watch the live sessions on the Jeodhouse Facebook page.
